Significant projects include: 

  • Murray Atkins Library Tower, University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Charlotte, NC. Investigated and determined the causes of the failure of a new exterior cladding system installed on an existing 10 story library tower.
  • Inman Park Apartments, Raleigh, NC.  Provided emergency inspection, design of temporary structural bracing and design of permanent repairs for a three-story post-tensioned slab apartment building undermined by the rupture of a 4" water main.
  • Eastgate Shopping Center, Chapel Hill, NC.  Provided emergency inspection and evaluation of the structural movement of a 700 foot long box culvert below a 40 year old shopping center when a drainage improvement project destabilized the culvert sidewalls.
  • Tobacco warehouse collapse, Rocky Mount, NC.  Performed a comprehensive investigation of the catastrophic collapse of a 70 year old brick masonry tobacco warehouse for an insurance company client.  Identified causes of initial failure and subsequent progressive collapse.
  • Liberty Warehouse, Durham, NC.  Provided emergency inspection and temporary shoring design to stabilize a partially-collapsed historic warehouse.
